Alaska Airlines MVP snubbed

An Alaska Airlines MVP Gold member recently took to Reddit to express frustration over two negative in-flight experiences that left them questioning the airline’s customer service standards.

Despite holding elite status for two years, the passenger described incidents that felt dismissive and unprofessional. In the first case, the passenger ordered a Jetsetter meal pack, which was mistakenly handed to another traveler several rows away.

When the passenger inquired, the flight attendant claimed to have already delivered it, leading to confusion and a sense of being gaslit. The crew then offered a replacement meal for an additional charge, which only added to the frustration.

The second incident occurred on a cross-country flight from Washington DC to San Francisco. The passenger asked for cranberry juice during a water service.

The flight attendant reportedly replied curtly, stating she was “handing out waters,” and quickly moved on without offering to return later. The passenger expected a more courteous response and felt brushed off.

In response, a commenter identifying as a flight attendant explained the logistical challenges of serving 200 passengers with only a few crew members.

They noted that it is impractical to fulfill individual drink requests during water rounds and recommended passengers make specific requests at the galley after service is complete.

While the original poster acknowledged that most flight attendants are polite and helpful, these recent incidents left a sour impression. The problem for modern airlines lie in balancing high service expectations with the operational realities.
