The National Highways Authority of India launched the FASTag annual pass on August 15, giving frequent highway users a more economical toll option. The new system removes repeated recharges and promises smoother travel across designated toll plazas for regular commuters.
On the first day alone, 1.4 lakh bookings were recorded, showing strong demand from travellers and logistics operators. The pass allows unlimited highway travel, making it convenient for daily users and transport companies who often face delays at toll plazas.
NHAI said the facility is fully digital and available through authorised banks and the MyFASTag app. Once purchased, the pass links automatically with the user’s FASTag account, ensuring hassle-free use without the need for manual recharges.
Officials believe the scheme will ease congestion at toll booths and save fuel by reducing cash handling and vehicle stoppages. Experts view the large response as proof of growing confidence in digital payment systems within the transport sector.
Authorities expect subscriptions to rise further as awareness grows among drivers. NHAI has urged frequent travellers to adopt the facility and assured that customer service support is in place to address any technical concerns.
