F-1 Face Deportation Scare Over Missed Email

For many F-1 students in the United States, losing visa status is scarier than exams. Managing studies and immigration paperwork is stressful, and even missing a single email can create panic.

Missed DSO Email Sparks Trouble

One international student faced this nightmare after missing an email from their Designated School Official (DSO). The message asked them to update their Texas address and program of study in Workday before 10 September.

SEVIS Record at Risk

The update was essential to keep their SEVIS record active. SEVIS tracks all F-1 students in the US. If a record is revoked, students can lose status and even face deportation, as many experienced earlier this year.

Second Warning Brings Panic

The student noticed the mistake only after receiving a second email on 15 September. It warned that their SEVIS record would be terminated soon, which would leave them out of status.

College Silence Adds Stress

The student quickly updated their Workday details and tried calling, texting, and emailing the DSO. However, no reply has come from the college, leaving the student in limbo.

Stricter Visa Rules in Focus

Recent cases show that the US government is becoming stricter with F-1 visas. Even a short delay can threaten years of effort, and this student now fears deportation as they wait for a response.
