One such Public Service Announcement (PSA) strongly advises against gatherings. These include gatherings in public roads, colonies, and even apartments. Dallas has been pointed out a particularly high-risk location for celebrations.
Indian immigrants are being warned to avoid mandaps, visarjan ceremonies, and loud gatherings. They have also been asked not to post videos of public celebrations.
These advisories follow an upsurge of anti-Indian hatred in the DFW area. Many videos showing the large NRI population in the area have gone viral.
These videos state that Dallas no longer feels like America, further feeding anti-Indian sentiments. The DFW area has shops like India Cash and Carry, and Urban Tadka.
Right-wing conservative groups like Turning Point USA (TPUSA) have furthered hatred. They claim that the DFW area feels like India, with their posts garnering hundred of millions of views.
North Dallas also saw large anti-Indian protests, with protestors tearing up Indian flags.
Amid such intense hatred against Indians, PSAs against public gatherings are attempting to save the image of Indians in the US. Loud celebrations of festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi in the US will further deteriorate the perception of NRIs.
