Even after having an approved Green Card, an immigrant is facing panic for four months in the US. The authorities haven’t issued his card or given him any updates.
The Green Card aspirant shared their struggle after entering the US on an immigrant visa and CBP stamp, which shows their Green Card was approved before arriving. They had a Social Security number and state ID but no physical Card had been issued.
Things got worse when they tried to process paperwork at a town hall. They claim, “I tried to do an administrative paper at the town hall the other day, and gave my A number, but returned nothing on their file, so couldn’t go forward with filing.”
USCIS, the agency responsible for Green Cards, has become impossible to reach. Online inquiries go unanswered, and phone support is now useless.
Some suggest making an Infopass appointment at a local USCIS office. This can help get an ADIT stamp, which serves as temporary proof of residency.
USCIS delays have always been frustrating, but with no updates given to the applicant, it is just adding to their anxiety.
If the system can’t even recognize approved Green Card holders it is concerning for the whole community. At this rate, more immigrants could find themselves stuck in limbo with no way forward.
