H-1B families are in panic after Department of Labour (DoL) raids uncovered a huge H-1B scam in Dallas. Investigators checked a multi-storey building linked to over 500 approved H-1B petitions.

The building was found to be mostly empty, with little to no evidence of any business. The Texas Attorney General has issued orders against 30 different businesses as a result.

Community members are reporting that H-1B families in the cities of Celina and Melissa in Texas have returned to India. Families reportedly lost jobs and returned to India leaving behind unsold homes.

The families were unable to find new jobs, or pay their mortgage and taxes. The job losses apparently took place soon before or after the Dallas raids.

Real estate data reflects the loss of the H-1B population in the state. Dallas suburbs like Collin County show drop in prices by 9%, with houses losing as much as $100,000 in value.

Agents have cited that Indian buyers made up 70% of their customers in Texas. But now that number has fallen to 30%, with dozens of homes up for sale, but no interest in them.

The revelation of fake companies with ghost offices in Dallas has shown the dark side of the H-1B program. With it comes the uprooting of families who have been in the US for many years.
