US Arrest Sparks H-1B Visa Questions Now

The clip shows the wife defending her husband, despite being a victim of abuse, saying that he had done nothing. A user on Reddit also apparently tracked down a post made by the H-1B worker after the arrest.
While no name is given, the details match up with the bodycam footage online. Their H-1B visa was revoked after his arrest, and now he’s stuck in India, trying to find a fresh stamping appointment.
Comments on his post advised him that it is very unlikely his new application would be approved. While the domestic violence case was dismissed by court, the arrest record still stands, and USCIS rarely approves individuals with prior arrests.
The bodycam footage was circulated widely online, with many praising American police for their action. Officers in the US do not need a complaint from the spouse to arrest a suspected domestic abuser.
Many also compared Indian police, stating that Indian police rarely even leave the station to investigate. The situation triggered larger debates on patriarchy in India and women being taught to tolerate atrocities at home.
Legal experts have stated that even dismissed domestic violence cases lead to visa revocation. The H-1B worker may never have another approved US visa in his life.
