US Horror: Indian Man Jailed for Paying to Assault Teens

US human trafficking case involving hotel employee

An Indian-origin hotel employee in the United States has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with a human trafficking and sexual exploitation case involving minor girls. The case has drawn significant attention due to the serious allegations and the involvement of multiple individuals.

Kavankumar Patel, a native of Gujarat, received the sentence after admitting that he used money from a hotel cash drawer to pay traffickers in exchange for access to a minor girl at the AmericInn hotel in Nebraska. Court proceedings revealed details of the exploitation that took place at the property.

The investigation began in January following reports of a theft at the hotel. During the inquiry, officials from the Homeland Security Task Force and the Omaha Police Department uncovered evidence of alleged sex trafficking activities and rescued two minor girls aged 15 and 16.

According to the US Attorney’s Office in Nebraska, investigators learned that the girls had allegedly been brought to the hotel for exploitation. Authorities said the victims reported being pressured into engaging in sexual acts and facing threats if they refused to cooperate.

Officials alleged that traffickers instructed the girls to engage in sexual acts with hotel staff in exchange for reduced room rates. The victims reportedly told investigators that they were given very little food and felt they had no option but to comply with the traffickers’ demands.

Authorities stated that Patel was one of several hotel employees implicated in the case. Investigators also alleged that traffickers were permitted to stay at the hotel for extended periods while arranging encounters involving the minors through online advertisements.

Several other individuals have been charged in connection with the case. Those named by authorities include Sumit Chaudhari, Vishal Goswami, Eduardo Jose Perdomo, Michel Martinez-Gonzalez, and Alfredo Zambrano-Hurtado.

Following Patel’s sentencing, US Attorney Lesley Woods praised the efforts of law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation. She stated that the operation helped rescue the victims from what she described as a “living nightmare.”

The case highlights ongoing efforts by US authorities to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation. Investigations and legal proceedings involving the remaining accused individuals are expected to continue.
