The FY 2027 H-1B lottery process has ended for many applicants, but uncertainty continues for some workers. A section of candidates still face unclear outcomes, creating anxiety around their visa status and future plans in the United States.
One F-1 STEM OPT worker recently shared his situation online. His H-1B registration still shows “Submitted”, while many of his peers have already received approvals. This has left him in a state of confusion ahead of an upcoming trip to India.
The applicant plans to travel to India in two weeks and return after a short stay. However, concerns remain about possible issues at immigration due to the unresolved H-1B status. This uncertainty has added to the stress around travel decisions.
He clarified that his STEM OPT is valid until January 2028, so he is not out of status. The worker also has an unusual case, as he is employed by two companies. Both positions reportedly have approval from USCIS.
Despite holding a valid F-1 visa, the main concern revolves around the “Submitted” status. Many applicants believe it indicates missing the first lottery round. They assume a second chance may only come if another round is conducted.
In normal situations, such concerns might seem like overthinking. However, recent cases have shown that visa related discrepancies can lead to denial of re-entry into the United States. This has made applicants more cautious about international travel.
