No Paystubs, No Transfer: H-1B Worker’s Shocking Layoff

An H-1B worker’s planned move to Seattle reportedly turned into a serious immigration and financial crisis within just a few weeks. A social media user recently shared their experience after allegedly facing sudden job loss and unpaid wages from a small US company.

According to the post, the company hired the worker on an H-1B visa and convinced them to relocate from Texas. The employee said they signed a 12-month lease, moved all belongings, and joined the company in January 2026.

The situation reportedly worsened by mid-March when the employer allegedly stopped making salary payments. The worker claimed they continued working until March 16 but did not receive wages for multiple weeks.

The employee also alleged that the company failed to provide a proper termination letter after ending communication. According to the post, the employer stopped responding for several weeks, leaving the worker uncertain about their immigration status.

The lack of proper employment documentation reportedly caused another setback. The worker claimed a new employer was prepared to process an H-1B transfer but later withdrew the offer due to insufficient proof of active employment.

The social media post further alleged that the employer asked the worker to withdraw a wage complaint in exchange for immigration-related assistance. However, communication allegedly became irregular again after those assurances were made.

To avoid falling out of legal immigration status, the worker reportedly filed for a B-2 change of status. Despite taking that step, the person is still dealing with unpaid wages, relocation expenses, and complications linked to the lease agreement.

The incident has once again raised concerns around H-1B worker protections in the United States. The case also highlights how sudden employment issues can create serious immigration risks, including the possibility of deportation.
