Indian American Lawmaker Harmeet Dhillon is getting viral on the internet as she offered Ardas in presence of Donald Trump.
Harmeet is a civil rights attorney and a republican leader belonging to Sikh community. The daughter of Sikh immigrants offered Ardas at the National Republican Convention. The sikh prayer is offered traditionally before beginning anything new.
She thanked God for protecting Trump, which can be implied to the latest shooting event in which he got injured. Trump is trying to find a larger base in the minority communities and South Asians, especially the Indian Americans are one of the biggest groups to lure.
Trump already has some following in the Hindu community and is trying to do the same in the Sikh community. It is an attempt to improve the anti-minority image of Donald Trump and the republicans. Nevertheless, this is beneficial for the Indian community as this brings Indian customs to the mainstream in US and can help break stereotypes.
