US Visa Dropbox’s New Rule Is Causing Panic

Ever since Donald Trump took over the United States, the most impacted community has been not only illegal immigrants but also legal immigrants, especially Indians on temporary visas like H1, H4, B1, and F1. They are increasingly concerned about the aggressive changes Trump has been making. A new rule quietly surfaced today regarding the renewal of expired visas—previously, applicants had up to 48 months (4 years) to renew, but now the renewal window has been reduced to just 12 months (one year).

Now, more people will have to renew their visas within a shorter time than before.

As a result, many will opt for direct visa interviews instead of Dropbox appointments, as finding Dropbox slots is already a nightmare.

With more applicants rushing due to the reduced renewal window, the pressure on visa holders like H-1B and H-4S will only increase.

Additionally, according to ABC News, the State Department has ordered U.S. embassies to cut down their staff. This is another directive Trump issued today, which means fewer visas will be issued in the coming years under his term.
