Akshay’s Biggest Disasters: 20 Cr Fine On Netflix?

Pooja Entertainment, owned by Vashu Bhagnani, has recently sorted out its legal issues with Netflix. An insider confirmed that both sides have decided on a settlement where the streaming platform reportedly paid Rs. 20 crores to end the case between them.

The source also confirmed that Vashu Bhagnani, his son Jackky, and Netflix are all set to go on a new journey where they are expected to collaborate for a long time in the future.

The legal problem dates back to last year when Vashu and Jackky sued Netflix, accusing them of cheating and pending payments that summed up to almost Rs. 47.37 crores.

The payments were linked to the OTT rights of the films, Mission Raniganj, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Hero No. 1, which were also produced by Pooja Entertainment.

After the case was filed, Senior Inspector Ravindra Avhad said that Netflix refused to cooperate and that although the police summoned the OTT giant, they did not respond at all, and instead kept on replying through a statement by the lower level of staff members.

Notably, Netflix had dismissed the allegations of Pooja Entertainment, stating that they have maintained a decent track record when it comes to partnership with any platform and were working to solve the problem as soon as possible.

The current update has hinted towards the possibility of Pooja Entertainment bringing new projects directly on Netflix. The company’s films have not worked for more than ten years, including their latest release, Mere Husband Ki Biwi, which has been already ignored by the audience in favor of Chhaava.

Since Pooja Entertainment’s magic is not working anymore on the big screen, it will be the best option for them to collaborate with OTT platforms from now onwards. Let’s see if that happens in the future.
