While Amazon Prime Video has been facing a lot of complaints due to its irregularity and degrading plans for subscribers, it seems that JioHotstar is also boarding the same train with some similar issues.
Amazon Prime Video added advertisements in their basic subscription plan, which fueled users with anger, as despite paying for the subscription, they still encounter successive ads that disrupt their viewing.
Many users also pointed out the video quality which has been underwhelming for quite some time and further irritates several Prime users. While the video quality issue was not much prominent, the ads which keep popping up in between series and films came out as a huge problem.
Social media got filled with users complaining about the service provided by Amazon Prime Video. Now, JioHotstar is also sneaking in ads in between shows and movies, even to their subscribed users.
Users having a base plan of Rs 149 for 3 months used to have 2 ads while watching a show or a movie before. However the platform subtly increased the count to 3 in between shows which disrupted user experience.
Users stated how almost every OTT service has been following this practice, and it is on its way to replicate the Television realm, a thing which OTT was supposed to replace and oppose.
There might be no difference between TV shows and OTT shows at this point, as advertisements seem to run both businesses.
It remains to be seen if this practice is changed ahead or not, as users are fuming with anger while seeing repetitive advertisements, hence ruining their viewing experience.
