Under their new policy, users will be able to log in to a maximum of five devices, including two TVs. This move by the streaming platform is quite similar to the one taken by its competitor Netflix.

In an email sent to Prime Video subscribers, the platform stated, “As part of your Prime membership, you and your household are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on up to five devices. Starting January 2025, we are updating our usage terms in India to include up to two TVs as part of your five devices entitlement. You can manage your devices on your Settings page or buy another Prime membership to watch Prime Video on more devices.”

Currently, Amazon Prime has the capacity to log in for up to 10 devices. However, with the renewed policies, users can log on to only 5 devices including 2 TVs. This could be challenging for those who borrow passwords for viewing shows.

Prime Video still allows logging into up to five devices simultaneously.

Previously, the streaming platform had announced that starting in 2025, the platform will show ads during TV shows and movies for existing users.

Although the platform assured that the ad load would be lighter compared to traditional TV and other platforms. With that, a new ad-free tier will be released soon too.

With these changes, is Amazon under the threat of losing some of its viewing audience? Or will it successfully get more people to subscribe?

We can only wait and find out!
