Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira, starring Fahadh Faasil and Kalyani Priyadarshan, released on August 29 as an Onam special but sank at the box office after poor reviews. Directed by Althaf Salim, the film ended its theatrical run as a flop.
The movie began streaming on Netflix from September 26 in five languages—Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi—with a four-week OTT window. While many expected it to be ignored after its theatrical failure, the film is now receiving mixed reactions online.
Some viewers praise it as a bold dark comedy with strong performances. Fahadh Faasil’s acting and Lal’s comic timing have earned appreciation, with fans calling it one of the most unique Malayalam films in recent times. They even criticised theatrical audiences for dismissing it too quickly.
On the other hand, a section of OTT viewers still find the film flat and label it one of Fahadh’s weakest outings. With such divided opinions, Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira seems to have finally found a niche audience, and time will tell if it earns cult status on streaming.
