WAR 2 OTT: Hrithik in Chill Mode, NTR Silent

Hrithik Roshan on War 2 failure

Hrithik Roshan has finally spoken about War 2 before its Netflix release. After weeks of silence, he described his experience of playing Kabir as “relaxed” but also unsettling. The film, starring Hrithik, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, carried a budget of Rs. 400 crores yet managed only Rs. 365 crores worldwide. The numbers made it one of the biggest disappointments in Indian cinema.

Hrithik rarely discusses a film’s box office result, but this time he opened up. He shared unseen photos from the sets and wrote about how easy it felt to play Kabir. With director Ayan Mukerji’s support, he found comfort in the role. Yet he admitted that this very ease made him uneasy, as if the performance lacked the challenge needed to strike audiences deeply. He seemed to hint that fans should not take the box office outcome too seriously.

The Telugu version of War 2 performed even worse. Its opening day failed to meet basic expectations, and Devara’s release went on to earn more in a single day than War 2 collected in its entire run across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. While Hrithik has been open, Jr NTR has chosen not to comment on the failure.

Netflix was set to release the film on October 9, but the platform has not confirmed the date officially. Fans are still waiting to watch the spy action drama from home. Many are curious to see what went wrong despite the film’s scale and promise.

For some, the OTT release is a chance at redemption. For others, it is only an opportunity to revisit a disaster. Viewers expect to stream it more out of curiosity than excitement. After the initial buzz, it may simply sit in Netflix’s library as another misfire, remembered as a film that promised much but delivered little.
