April 2025 is going to be a thrill-packed month for OTT buffs, especially with the launch of Jewel Thief, Chhaava, and Loveyapa.
Jewel Thief, which will start streaming on Netflix on April 25, has Saif Ali Khan playing the role of an expert thief trying to steal the African Red Sun diamond. This movie assures a high-risk story with a twist, betrayal, and intricately woven character relationships, so it is among the most looked-forward-to movies of the month.
With its big-budget make and star cast, the stakes are high. The size of the movie promises to redefine OTT cinema and possibly draw in a large following and create controversy over its filmic value vis-a-vis its theatrical counterparts.
On April 11, Chhaava will premiere on JioHotstar. Starring Vicky Kaushal, the movie follows the Maratha-Mughal struggle through the prism of Shivaji’s heritage. The excitement for this release is high, particularly given Kaushal’s recent track record.
It will be interesting to observe how viewers take to it on OTT; whether it can match its cinema buzz or if any imperfections that passed undetected in theatres will be evident when watched at home.
Finally, Loveyapa, also releasing on April 4 on JioHotstar, is a modern romance story that appeals to Gen-Z audiences. Starring Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan, the film is a realistic tale of love with the help of modern technology, which will appeal to young audiences.
As these movies release, their OTT reception will be keenly watched, particularly for Chhaava, which has a lot to deliver in terms of audience interest and critical success.
