Recently, many took to the internet to express their frustration about the excessive ads, despite having a premium subscription.
One user posted on X (formerly Twitter) about how, even after paying for premium services, they are still forced to watch ads from brands like Vimal, My11Circle, and Marie.

They mentioned how irritating these ads are, especially during the ongoing IPL season, adding that they’d rather watch the players than these repeated commercials.
The user also suggested that the platform should consider launching a truly ad-free subscription plan.

Many subscribers share this frustration, especially during the cricket season, when families gather to watch matches live.
There have also been earlier complaints about inappropriate or non-family-friendly ads being shown during matches, an event where everyone in the family is present, including children.
These issues have reportedly worsened since the merger.
OTT platforms rely heavily on ad revenue. If, by any chance, JioHotstar does launch an ad-free subscription tier, it would likely come at a hefty price to compensate for the lost ad income.
While it’s true that ads interrupting our favourite shows or live IPL matches are highly annoying, an ad-free plan could significantly raise subscription prices.
Still, it’s disappointing that despite charging a premium price, JioHotstar continues to bombard users with ads far too frequently.
