Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 is all set for its OTT release on October 31 after an impressive theatrical run. The Rishab Shetty-directed mythological thriller is now gearing up to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
Securing the film’s digital rights wasn’t easy. The makers reportedly demanded around ₹125 crore, driven by the immense fan excitement and box office success. Streaming giants Netflix and Prime Video were both in the race to grab the deal.
Netflix initially agreed to pay around ₹100 crore, but Amazon Prime Video sealed the deal by offering ₹110 crore — surpassing expectations and beating its rival. This makes it the second-highest OTT deal ever for a Kannada film after KGF – Chapter 2.
The film, which earned over ₹700 crore worldwide, will premiere on Prime Video in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. With such massive numbers, the streaming release is expected to draw huge viewership across languages.
While some fans have questioned the early OTT release, others are eagerly waiting to revisit Rishab Shetty’s world of divine legends and intense storytelling. The digital premiere marks another milestone in Kannada cinema’s growing national reach.
