Uppu Kappurambu, starring Suhas and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles and directed by Ani IV Sasi, is scheduled for a direct OTT release on the Amazon Prime OTT platform in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, on July 4th.
Following the direct OTT release announcement from the Uppu Kappurambu team, many people on social media are commenting that Uppu Kappurambu came out of nowhere, as there wasn’t any buzz about this movie, and it seems like an OTT dumping.

Also, many people feel that even though Uppu Kappurambu looks like a potential disaster, sometimes such films may surprise the audience with interesting plots.
Earlier, in 2020 Keerthy Suresh’s Penguin was also released directly on the Amazon Prime OTT platform in five languages. During its release, reports confirmed that Penguin was acquired by Amazon Prime for around 40 crores, which was a huge deal at that time.

However, after its release, Penguin ended up being a critical and commercial disappointment. Following Penguin, Uppu Kappurambu is Keerthy Suresh’s second movie to be released directly on the Amazon Prime OTT platform.
Also, for the past few years, none of Keerthy Suresh’s movies have ended up as successful ventures. So, the success of Uppu Kappurambu is crucial for Keerthy Suresh.

Nevertheless, Uppu Kappurambu so far doesn’t have any pre-release buzz and It remains to be seen whether Uppu Kappurambu earns positive word-of-mouth and ends up as a surprise blockbuster or as just one among many disaster movies on OTT upon its release on July 4th.
