There’s exciting news for LCU fans! With the upcoming slate of movies from Lokesh Kanagaraj’s universe, there are a few surprises in store. LCU stands out as one of the most authentic cinematic universes from India. Currently, three movies have been released, all with a common goal of aiming for a drug-free society.
The universe began with “Kaithi,” where 900 kg of drugs were seized. The straightforward story explored different perspectives with Kamal Hasan’s “Vikram”, delving into the origin of the Black Squad, led by Amar. In the movie “Vikram,” we learned that Agent Vikram was the head of its pilot batch. The narrative introduced villains like Anbu and Sandhanam, involved in the drug trade. In the post-credit scene of “Vikram,” we discover the mastermind behind the drug cartel, Rolex, portrayed by Suriya.
This year, “Leo” presented a different story of another drug mafia played by Sanjay Dutt, with Leo (played by Tahapathy) fighting against these drug lords. Towards the end, Vikram discusses Leo putting an end to these villains.
There’s an update on “Kaithi 2.” The movie will begin shooting once Lokesh finishes a different movie with Rajnikant. In a recent interview, Lokesh revealed that before “Kaithi 2,” he will shoot a 10-minute short film, exploring the origin of this universe and the connections between these characters. Additionally, a movie featuring Rolex is in the lineup, addressing the past and events after “Vikram.” It will be fascinating to see how this universe continues to evolve.
