All the while, Netflix used to serve as a platform for filmmakers to stream the uncensored versions of their films on OTT. The restrictions on theatrical prints by the censor board weren’t applicable to Netflix and so, directors could release their raw content on this OTT giant. But that is set to change now.

Animal’s uncut version had a run-time of 3 hours 51 minutes and this was expected to stream on Netflix at least 8 weeks post the theatrical release. This uncut version was billed to be even more striking and unadulterated than the theatrical version, which was provocative in itself.

But with the new mandate, Netflix will not be streaming the uncut version as it is not approved by the censor board. The new regulation came to effect just a few days ago and it has already disappointed ‘Animal’ fans.
