Netflix recently explored the idea of buying EA and even Disney before moving toward a deal with Warner Bros Discovery. You now see a company more focused on buying entire markets instead of fixing its own content issues.
A Netflix EA Disney merger would create a giant that controls Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, FIFA, Madden, ESPN, plus theme parks and broadcast networks. You would be forced into a closed system where one company decides where and how you watch and play.
The financial risks are huge. Netflix would take on Disney’s debt and EA’s operating costs. You already know that Netflix games are struggling to find players. Forcing EA users into a subscription model will only anger loyal gamers.
Regulators will not accept one company running streaming entertainment, family brands, sports, and gaming. Long legal battles and asset sales will follow. Years will pass before anything works smoothly again.
Instead of improving content quality and reducing unnecessary projects Netflix is trying to survive by buying everything in sight. That shows a company worried about the future, not one leading it.
