Money Heist Season 6? New Teaser Sparks Massive Speculation

Money Heist universe Netflix expansion

Netflix has officially confirmed that the Money Heist universe will continue expanding. The announcement came in May 2026, nearly five years after the original series concluded in 2021. The streaming platform released a teaser with the message, “The world of ‘Money Heist’ continues.”

To celebrate the announcement, the makers organised a large live stunt event in Seville, Spain. Performers dressed in the franchise’s iconic red jumpsuits and Dalí masks sailed through the Guadalquivir River while “Bella Ciao” played for thousands of spectators gathered at the venue.

The announcement arrives ahead of Berlin Season 2, titled Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine. The new season is scheduled for a global premiere on May 15, 2026. The story reportedly follows Pedro Alonso’s character in Seville during an art theft operation linked to Leonardo da Vinci’s Lady with an Ermine.

The upcoming season is also expected to include themes of blackmail and revenge. However, Netflix has not yet confirmed whether the next expansion will be Berlin Season 3, another spin-off, a police-based series or a direct continuation through Money Heist Season 6.

The teaser further intensified fan speculation by using the line “the revolution never ends.” It also featured yellow-gloved hands uncovering a gold bar, leading many viewers to believe the future storyline could connect to the Bank of Spain gold plot from the original series.

From a business perspective, the expansion is also strategically important for Netflix. Reports suggest the main Money Heist series generated around 1.3 billion viewing hours and nearly 160 million views globally, making it one of the platform’s biggest international successes.

Berlin Season 1 also performed strongly worldwide and entered the Top 10 rankings in 91 countries. The season reportedly recorded around 348 million viewing hours, further proving the franchise’s global popularity across multiple regions.

Industry observers believe expanding the Money Heist universe could help Netflix reduce subscriber churn and strengthen ad-tier revenue. Building long-running franchises around successful intellectual properties also gives the platform stronger stability in the highly competitive streaming market.

There is also growing belief that the franchise expansion could further strengthen Netflix’s dominance in non-English content markets, particularly across Europe and Latin America, where the series continues to enjoy a massive fan following.
