What happens when a polo-playing prince meets a self-made CEO in a crumbling royal estate? Netflix’s new rom-com The Royals has the answer — and it’s full of sass, spark and surprises.
Ishaan Khatter is channeling vintage Shahid Kapoor and Nora Fatehi is turning up the heat. This May 9 release is already making headlines.
Set in the fictional city of Morpur, The Royals follows Maharaja Aviraaj (Ishaan) and Sophia (Bhumi Pednekar) as they team up to turn a dilapidated haveli into a luxury B&B. It’s business… until feelings crash the party. Expect drama, secrets and a whole lot of tension.
The trailer has already started trending. Viewers are loving the unique setup, calling it “quirky” and “fun”.
Many are excited to see Ishaan in a full blown rom-com, with comments comparing his vibe to early Shahid Kapoor.
Fans are especially curious about the unexpected spark between Ishaan and Nora Fatehi — a pairing no one saw coming, but now can’t stop thinking about.
Veterans like Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar and Milind Soman bring gravity while the younger cast adds zing.
The royal backdrop works well with hustle culture — think Bridgerton meets Band Baaja Baaraat, but with Netflix’s sheen.
If you like flirty banter, emotional chaos and grand sets with heart, this is your cup of royal chai. And Ishaan? He’s pulling off that “frustratingly charming” hero with ease. Don’t be surprised if The Royals becomes your next guilty pleasure binge.
