Kathleen Jordan and other writers are proposing their concepts for a Harry Potter television series on Warner Bros.’ streaming service Max. The initial round of pitch meetings was held in Los Angeles, with the top selections going to the United Kingdom. J.K. Rowling is likely to participate in the decision-making process for the series, which she executive produces. Max is open to developing a variety of Harry Potter-themed concepts.

Max, a British writer, was executive produced by British authors Hillier and Jordan, who have collaborated on several television programs. Hillier, a former executive producer for Netflix’s The Last Kingdom and BBC’s fantasy series, has previously worked on British soap operas such as EastEnders and Holby City.

Jordan, a Netflix series creator, has previously worked on The Decameron and Teenage Bounty Hunters. Meanwhile, Moran, a British writer, has contributed to Amazon’s The Devil’s Hour and Wild Bill. Lesslie, a writer, has also contributed to The Little Drummer Girl and Battlestar Galactica.

Brontë Film and TV, led by Rowling’s agent Neil Blair, and Warner Bros Television will create the hit HBO series, Harry Potter. The production business will be with Brontë CEO Ruth Kenley-Letts. David Heyman, who produced the movies, is also in discussions to executive produce. Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav stated that Harry Potter on Max will be a decade-long effort, a big milestone for the series.

This is the start of a process that HBO and Max Content launched in early 2023 after engaging extensively with the Blair Partnership. The series, based on Rowling’s seven best-selling books, includes retail outlets, amusement parks, a global stage play, and a $7.7 billion global film franchise.
