Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer dominated the 2024 Golden Globes, winning five prizes, including Best Motion Picture – Drama. The film, starring Cillian Murphy as the physicist above J. Robert Oppenheimer, chronicles how he constructed the world’s first atomic weapon, with events ranging from Oppenheimer’s time as a student to his 1954 security hearing following the Manhattan Project.
Emily Blunt acts as Murphy’s spouse Katherine Oppenheimer, Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss, a high-ranking member of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, and Matt Damon as Leslie Groves Jr., the Manhattan Project’s director. Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, and Kenneth Branagh co-star.
The film won five Golden Globe awards earlier this week, including Best Motion Picture (Drama), Best Director for Nolan, and Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson. Meanwhile, Murphy and Downey Jr. won honors for Best Male Actor – Drama and Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role, respectively.
