Prabhas and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki had a largely lucrative run at the box office as the statement from the makers claimed that the film grossed over Rs 1000 crore worldwide.

Coming to the OTT side of things, Kalki has brought in a much needed change that is needed for big event films.
It has been 4 weeks since the theatrical debut of Kalki but the film hasn’t yet arrived on OTT. The makers are delaying the OTT release of the film, as promised earlier.

At a day and age where cinema enthusiasts are willing to wait out the OTT debut of a film instead of watching it in theaters, this is a needed move from the makers of Kalki.
The precedent has been such that any film, regardless of big or small has been arriving on OTT four weeks or under. This has been instigating the audience to wait out a manageable four-week period to later catch the film on OTT.

But in the case of Kalki, with the decision to hold back the OTT debut, it is a clear sign that such films must be watched on big screens as the OTT debut will not be happening anytime soon.
This could be a sign of encouragement for the audience to come to watch the film on big screens as they won’t have the luxury of watching it at home in under 4 weeks. This is pretty much the need of the hour for theatrical business, at least as far as big event films go.
