Amazon Prime Video has hinted at introducing ads during show streams, and now they’ve confirmed a date for the change.

Starting January 29th, not only TV series but movies will also feature limited ads, as detailed in an email sent to current Prime subscribers.

Prime stated that the aim behind this move is to invest in higher-quality content and assured subscribers that the ad interruptions will be minimal to prevent inconvenience.

Additionally, Prime has introduced an option allowing users to pay an extra $2.99 to opt out of ads entirely.

However, this shift hasn’t resonated well with users. Social media platforms are buzzing with discontent among current Prime subscribers, expressing their dissatisfaction with the decision.

Many believe that introducing ads will diminish the movie-watching experience, akin to the interruptions seen on television.

For now, fortunately, India is not included in this ad rollout. The initial countries are the U.S., UK, Germany, and Canada, followed by France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Australia later in the year. Indian Prime Video subscribers don’t have to worry for now.
