Streaming giant Disney+Hotstar has revealed its highly ambitious show called Showtime. It is created by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment and stars Emraan Hashmi, Mahima Makwana, Mouni Roy, Shriya Saran and more. As of now, only the first part has been released and it has 4 episodes.
Given the fiasco of Selfiee, people were wondering what Emraan Hashmi has to offer next. He is not a big star in Bollywood, he never was. But he has always enjoyed a sort of cult that is looking forward to his films. Be it hardcore erotic romance, horror or love songs, the teens of the 2000s and early 2010s have swooned over the guy.
Regardless, Showtime is about the darkness in the glittery world of filmmaking. Also, it is nothing new for an actor like Emraan. He has headlined Raaz 2, and been a part of The Dirty Picture that says exactly the same.
There are some serious faults in the series but people are hailing it just because it brings back the vintage Emraan Hashmi.
The show becomes more fun because it brings the insider vs outsider debate. This nepotism exists in all the Indian film industries but Bollywood is particularly infamous for that. Also, there are some subtle Kangana Ranaut references that would be loved by every Bollywood fan.
