SonyLIV has given us wonderful stories from time to time but now it looks like the platform is relying too much on remaking international shows.
The platform is bringing a new show titled ‘Kankhajura’ now that will be the remake of an Israeli drama named ‘Magpie’. The show has some good actors like Roshan Matthews and Mohit Raina in leading roles but it is really concerning that this is the third adaptation of Israeli stories on SonyLIV now.

Previously SonyLIV made ‘Your Honour’ adapting the American show of the same name. But the Bryan Cranston starrer was actually a remake of the Israeli show ‘Kvodo’.
The 2022 action thriller series ‘Tanaav’ was created by Sudhir Mishra and it was the remake of the Israeli series ‘Fauda’.

After Hollywood and Korean films, it looks like the Hindi entertainment industry has found another source to cash in. And probably they think it will be easier because Israeli shows do not have a big audience here in India.
But continuing to bring one after another remake will damage the platform’s image in the long run. We have seen SonyLIV’s extraordinary capabilities in terms of originals.

The platform has given us shows like ‘Scam: 1992’, ‘The Rocket Boys’, ‘Gullak’ and more and it should try to create originals like these more rather than just picking up not-so-popular shows from foreign industries to remake with ease.
