Sree Vishnu’s romantic comedy Single hit theatres on May 9, 2025, and even as it continues its theatrical run, its OTT destination is already locked. According to reports, Amazon Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical digital rights for a record price — the highest ever for a Sree Vishnu film.
What’s surprising is that the film is produced by Allu Aravind, who owns the aha OTT platform. Yet, the streaming rights went to Prime Video. Industry insiders believe the decision was likely financial — the team may have chosen Amazon’s offer to comfortably recover production costs.
Single revolves around Vijay, a lonely bank employee trying to escape his single status. His quest lands him in a romantic tangle with two women, played by Ketika Sharma and Ivana. The film blends humour, romance, and emotional drama as Vijay stumbles through love and self-discovery.
Theatrically, the film has received a mixed response. While Sree Vishnu’s comic timing and Vennela Kishore’s comedy segments have drawn praise, the film dips in the second half. Critics have pointed out a weakly written heroine role, a forced emotional track, and a climax that fails to land.
Despite its shortcomings, Single might fare better on OTT. Its light-hearted tone and relatable theme could click with the home-viewing audience. The official streaming date is yet to be announced, but the tentative release on Amazon Prime Video is expected around June 5.
