The fans favorite Ben Affleck’s return as Christian Wolff in “The Accountant 2”, is getting quite a lukewarm response from the fandom.
Yes you read it correctly, directed by Gavin O’Connor, “The Accountant 2” is finally releasing on Amazon prime India, on 5th June. It seems like after the first installment the expectations about the movie were so high that the sequel couldn’t fulfil.
Thanks to Affleck’s calculatedly cold yet compelling performance, the original movie grossed $155.56 million worldwide, but the second instalment disappointed the box office by grossing only $101.6 million worldwide.
Alongside Affleck, J.K. Simmons and Cynthia Addai-Robinson, with Jon Bernthal reappearing in their role as the estranged brother, Brax, the cast is still solid, but somehow the film feels less grounded.
But, let’s be realistic, sequels are hard to maintain the Og style, the action packed, suspenseful original plot is replaced by heavily focused on cliche action and family drama, losing the psychological edge that once made the original movie stand out.
However, now as it is releasing on Amazon Prime India with diverse language, it might get a second chance through the digital audience.
OTT platforms have the ability to revive the movies which didn’t do much well in theatres , because they have a solid franchise fanbase.
Now it is a matter of time to see whether “The Accountant 2”shines out loud in the OTT or fades away from the OTT as well.
