Vijay Varma will be playing an important role in a new crime thriller titled Matka King. The show would be arriving on Amazon Prime Video and further updates are awaited on a specific release date.
Notably, Vijay recently confirmed on social media that he has completed filming for the show. He added the photo of a cake with a matka on April 24, 2025, which also featured a red cloth on top. The basic theme of the show would be set on the world of Matka gambling.

The main premise will be featured in the background of Mumbai during the ‘60s where a cotton trader tries to change things for himself and everyone. Nagraj Manjule, known for Sairat, will be directing the show, and Siddharth Roy Kapur serves as a producer.
While other details about the show would be disclosed once the series arrives on Amazon Prime Video, it remains to be seen if audiences would get attracted to the same in any manner.

Notably, the main storyline resembles a film of Varun Tej, titled Matka. The gangster action drama was released last year and turned out to be a big disaster at the box office. It also failed to receive positive reviews from critics and audiences at the same time.
Nagraj Manjule’s filmmaking skills have been praised over the years, and it remains to be seen if he has used the potential of the lead actors properly to deliver the best result. Moreover, the script and overall execution will decide if the audience will be impressed with the main content.
