The global Indian comedian Vir Das’s latest stand up which is “Vir Das : Full Volume”, streaming on Netflix, promised the audience a good humour, witty jokes and a global sense of joke.
But, what we truly got is a comedy special which missed the core point of a comedy special and that is “Laughter”.
Known for his clever and witty jokes, Vir Das is known for his courageous and brave approach to this performance.
But Full Volume doesn’t quite hit the mark.
Instead of fresh jokes the special felt more like a grudge vomiting from his side, more like a long rant as a performance.
There is nothing wrong if you address socio-political issues or personal things in your stand up, but if you can’t deliver a proper punchline in your special, then the question comes if you can really call it a “Comedy Stand Up”.
Moments that should’ve built into a joke arc ended abruptly or dissolved into tired sarcasm.
Audiences were expecting more laughter, more wit, and less venting. The Netflix tag adds to that expectation .
Unfortunately, Full Volume falls flat, comedy needs to connect, but this time Vir Das missed the tone.
