Filmmaker Anees Bazmee is set to begin shooting his next film on January 20 in Mumbai. The director recently confirmed key details about the project, including its cast and production status.

The yet-untitled film stars Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan in lead roles. This marks another collaboration between Anees Bazmee and Akshay Kumar after a long gap.

Speaking about Akshay Kumar, Anees Bazmee said their personal rapport has always remained strong. He added that even though they had not worked together for several years, their understanding never faded.

The director explained that once he felt the story suited Akshay Kumar, he approached him. Akshay immediately agreed and is said to be excited as the shoot begins soon.

Anees Bazmee confirmed that the film does not have a final title yet. He said the team is currently focused on filming rather than branding or promotional elements.

The film is being produced by Dil Raju, whom Anees described as a close friend. He recalled that an earlier planned project with Shahid Kapoor did not materialise, but his desire to collaborate with Dil Raju eventually led to this film.

Addressing reports that the project is a remake of the Telugu film Sankranthiki Vasthunam, Anees Bazmee offered a balanced response. He said the premise may be similar, and both films share the same producer, but his film is not a direct remake.

He added that such comparisons are common and that audiences should judge the film once it releases.

Apart from Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, the film also features Raashii Khanna, Vijay Raaz, Zakir Hussain, and Sayaji Shinde.

The director confirmed that the film will include comedy, romance, action, and songs. This blend aligns with Anees Bazmee’s trademark style of commercial entertainers.
