After Vanga, Another Director Goes Dark with Bobby

Bobby Deol Bandar Premiere TIFF 2025

Anurag Kashyap’s next film Bandar is now creating headlines. It features Bobby Deol in the lead, and a poster of the film was also shared by the actor on social media on July 22, 2025.

The poster shows Bobby sitting among a large group of prisoners. The glimpse has hinted that Anurag has shot the film in realistic situations like he has done for other films over the years. However, a lot of details about the film’s storyline remain unknown for now.

Meanwhile, the caption of Bobby’s Instagram post reads that the plot is inspired from real-life events. Apart from that, it has been officially selected for the 50th Toronto International Film Festival.

The poster has also hinted that people will get to see a film with a dark theme after a long time. However, the basic premise will decide whether it will leave a positive impression on the audience. Moreover, it remains to be seen if Bobby’s characters will have any negative shade.

Back in 2023, Bobby was seen in Animal, which featured almost a similar theme and was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Bobby played the main antagonist and has continued to make an impact by playing a villain in films like Kanguva and Daaku Maharaaj.

While the directors of the above-mentioned films have managed to present Bobby perfectly, the presentation of Anurag is something that audiences would want to see.

Anurag has been an expert in presenting characters that are extremely negative, wild, ruthless, and merciless on screen. The characters make a better impact with the inclusion of violence and brutality. Bobby has been an underrated actor and Anurag is expected to bring the best out of him.

On the other hand, Anurag’s films are not doing so well at the box office for some time. Bobby Deol also does not have a lot of potential, considering today’s condition of the film industry, to pull audiences to the big screen with a solo film.

Bandar is expected to work only if Anurag has added any commercial elements to the film. There is no teaser and trailer for now. So, let’s wait for those promotional materials to have a better idea about the film’s potential.
