Salman Khan’s upcoming film Battle of Galwan has locked 17 April 2026 as its release date. The film will now arrive as a solo theatrical release. This gives it a clear run at the box office without any direct competition.
The date was earlier blocked by Yash Raj Films for Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. YRF decided to move its film to avoid a clash. The studio stepped aside once Battle of Galwan confirmed the same window.
Trade reports suggest Alpha is still deep in post-production. The VFX work is taking longer than expected. April 17 was initially treated as a placeholder, making the shift easier once Salman Khan’s film finalised its plans.
Industry insiders say Aditya Chopra took the call quickly. The decision reflects the long professional relationship between Chopra and Salman Khan. YRF is expected to announce a fresh release date after reviewing the 2026 calendar.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha features Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in lead roles. Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol play important characters. The film was earlier pushed from a Christmas release, adding to talk around its scale and technical demands.
For Salman Khan, the solo release creates both opportunity and pressure. With Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh delivering strong box office results in recent years, expectations from Battle of Galwan are naturally high.
The film’s subject carries significant weight. With no competing release on the same day, the responsibility to deliver rests firmly on Salman Khan. A solo window helps, but it leaves little room for excuses.
