Akshay Back from the Dead at BO? One Film Changed It All

Akshay Kumar Bhooth Bangla box office success

Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla has managed to perform decently at the box office and avoided turning into a major flop. The film’s response has reportedly restored confidence among viewers and trade circles that the actor can still deliver successful commercial entertainers.

Roopbani Cinema owner Vishek Chauhan recently reacted to the film’s performance and discussed Akshay Kumar’s box office journey. He pointed out that many people in recent years believed the actor’s career had slowed down after multiple underperforming films.

Vishek Chauhan stated that several viewers had almost written off Akshay Kumar due to his recent failures. However, he said the narrative has now started changing with Bhooth Bangla reportedly moving closer to the Rs. 150 crore mark at the box office.

According to Chauhan, Akshay Kumar’s pre-pandemic films largely worked because they catered strongly to family audiences. He explained that after the lockdown period, the actor experimented with different subjects that were more suitable for OTT audiences than theatrical releases.

Vishek Chauhan also said that content accepted on streaming platforms may eventually work again in cinemas after audiences experience a cooling-off period. He added that theatrical viewers currently prefer entertainment-driven genres such as horror comedies, mass action films and intense romantic dramas.

He further mentioned that many stars are often misjudged because the success of a film depends heavily on timing and genre selection. According to him, Bhooth Bangla succeeded because it entered a genre space that is currently attracting strong audience interest in theatres.

Vishek also observed that several films designed more for home viewing were released in cinemas over the last few years. He believes audiences rejected those films theatrically because they were better suited for digital platforms and private viewing experiences.

The performance of Bhooth Bangla has now created fresh optimism around Akshay Kumar’s box office future. Fans are waiting to see whether the actor can continue the momentum and achieve similar success with his upcoming project Haiwaan.
