The first single from Border 2, titled Ghar Kab Aaoge, has been released, but the response has been mixed. What many expected to be a powerful nostalgic moment has not fully lived up to those expectations.
The song was released after its official video launch event, following the audio release across all music platforms. It brings together renowned singers including Sonu Nigam, Roop Kumar Rathod, Arijit Singh, Vishal Mishra, and Diljit Dosanjh.
The 10 minute audio version was launched first, followed by the official video unveiled at the song launch event. While audiences welcomed the coming together of celebrated voices, several viewers felt the original emotion of the song was diluted.
Many listeners described the track as a respectful remake but felt it lacked the soul of the original song from the first Border film. Some pointed to scattered lyrics and flat vocals as reasons for the reduced emotional impact.
A section of users also criticised the collaboration as a commercial move rather than an artistic one. Among the singers, Sonu Nigam was widely praised for preserving the emotional depth of the original composition.
Despite high expectations, the song delivered only an average emotional experience for some listeners. However, fans were still pleased to see Sunny Deol appear in the music video along with other cast members.
Although the remake has not convinced everyone, nostalgia appears to be working in the film’s favour. Some viewers have softened their stance on the project after the song’s release.
With the film’s teaser already drawing mixed reactions, Ghar Kab Aaoge could help reduce negativity around Border 2. Attention now shifts to the official trailer to see if it can fully win over sceptical audiences.

Varun Dhawan looks fresh. Diljit looks solid.

The stark difference between the voice quality of Sonu Nigam and others including Arijit Singh, shows what the current generation is missing.
You just cannot stop breath and murmur lines in husky tones for all the songs.#GharKabAaoge
