Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam, known for his live performances, found himself at the center of a controversy during his Kolkata concert on February 10.
A viral video from the event shows him losing his temper when some audience members stood up in the middle of his performance.

Visibly frustrated, Sonu Nigam can be heard saying, “Agar tumko khada hona hi hai, election mein khade ho jao yaar! Please bithao… baitho! Bahar niklo! Make this space empty!” (If you want to stand so badly, go contest elections! Sit down! Get out!).
While some fans defended him, blaming poor event management, others criticized his behavior.

One supporter pointed out, “It was so disgusting that Sonu Sir had to handle this himself. Where was the event management?” Another mentioned how security lapses led to singer KK’s tragic death in 2022, arguing that artists must now take charge of their own safety.
However, not everyone was sympathetic. Some users called him “arrogant,” while others felt he could have handled the situation better.

Recently, Nigam has been open about his health struggles, even revealing that he experienced severe back pain during a performance.
While dealing with physical discomfort and crowd mismanagement is challenging, a seasoned performer like him is expected to maintain composure. Similarly, audiences must respect concert etiquette.
Ultimately, while Nigam’s frustration was understandable, his response could have been more measured. At the same time, event organizers and concertgoers should ensure that live shows remain enjoyable experiences rather than chaotic spectacles.
