Dhurandhar Hype Crashed Due to Genre and OTT Overkill?

Dhurandhar hype drop ahead of release

Ranveer Singh’s actioner Dhurandhar is gearing up for release this weekend, but the hype has dropped sharply. What was once promoted as his big comeback now seems to be losing momentum. Advance bookings are weak and online excitement appears minimal.

Fans have been debating the reasons behind the dull buzz. Some feel Ranveer Singh’s recent comments related to Rishab Shetty and Kantara may have contributed to the negativity. Others believe the trailer diluted expectations and that talk of a second part is hurting interest, as audiences are tired of multi part storytelling.

Cinema owner Vishek Chauhan pointed to the film’s genre as the major issue. He said the action thriller space has been overused in theatres and OTT platforms. According to him, this oversupply has made it difficult for Dhurandhar to feel like a big ticket event.

He wrote that the genre itself is in “oversupply and overkill” both theatrically and on OTT. Dhurandhar, inspired by true events and built as a spy thriller, may be arriving at a time when audiences are already saturated with similar content.

As Dhurandhar reaches its release weekend, the real test will begin. Only time will show whether the film can recover from its fluctuating buzz and win back viewers amid mixed expectations.
