Dhurandhar 2 Bizarre Twist: Karachi Police Seeks Royalty

Karachi police DIG Omar Shahid Hamid has stirred controversy by demanding royalty from the makers of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The senior officer claims the film draws heavily from real incidents experienced by police personnel during high-risk operations in Karachi.

Speaking on a recent podcast, DIG Omar referred to the Lyari Gang crackdowns that followed the assassination of SP Chaudhary Aslam. He stated that the story shown in Dhurandhar closely mirrors real events, which, according to him, belong to the officers involved.

The demand has added a new layer of debate around the film. What was earlier discussed as a high-octane espionage thriller is now being viewed through questions of ownership, authenticity, and the representation of real-life experiences on screen.

Many fans have reacted with amusement to the situation. The film’s storyline revolves around Indian intelligence infiltrating Pakistan, making the demand for royalty from Pakistani officials appear ironic and unexpected to sections of the audience.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sara Arjun in key performances.

At the box office, the film continues to achieve remarkable success. It has already crossed Rs 385 crore net in India and Rs 675 crore gross worldwide, firmly establishing itself as an all-time blockbuster.

So far, Aditya Dhar and the film’s team have not issued any official response to DIG Omar’s demand. The silence has only added to the intrigue, keeping the controversy alive and drawing further attention to the film.
