Drishyam 3: Who Leads Biggest Opening Without Sequel?

Drishyam 3 biggest Bollywood openers debate

Box office numbers have become unpredictable over the last few years. Movies without any hype have started working, recording big numbers, and the ones that create a lot of buzz have ended up as failures.

Talking about the ongoing situation, Drishyam: The Conclusion has taken a massive start and is expected to emerge as a blockbuster. While the film is said to have been the biggest opener in Ajay Devgn’s career, it is a sequel, and Ajay is yet to break the same record in terms of a solo film.

Notably, the numbers have come into discussion since a list is currently trending on social media, revealing the names of the actors who have taken big openings with films that were not a sequel or a part of any franchise. Ajay’s name is clearly missing from the list.

Shah Rukh Khan is leading the list with Jawan, which started at Rs. 63.87 crores. Although Toxic emerged as a big disaster, Yash managed to take the second spot with Rs. 53.5 crores. Then there is Ranbir Kapoor, whose film Animal started with Rs. 52.48 crores.

While Aamir Khan is dealing with a bad phase, he did take a big opening with Thugs of Hindostan in 2018, bringing in Rs. 48.27 crores on the first day.

Salman Khan is also here, with Rs. 41.6 crores for Bharat. The last two spots on the list have been taken by Vicky Kaushal and Akshay Kumar. Vicky’s Chhaava started at Rs. 29 crores, followed by Akshay’s Mission Mangal with Rs. 28.4 crores.

The list has led to a lot of discussions on social media. Many people stated that Akshay should now understand the requirements of the audience and try to take the top spot from SRK. Others said that Salman should now prefer to select good scripts and create a record by taking an opening of Rs. 50-60 crores at the box office.

But the list has now brought a different pressure on Ajay Devgn, who is considered to be one of the most versatile actors in today’s time. Netizens reacted by saying that, considering the collections of Drishyam: The Conclusion, Ajay could have taken the top spot if the movie had been an original subject instead of being a sequel.

On the other hand, fans are confident that Ajay will deliver similar numbers with his upcoming solo projects, which also include a horror film. Now everyone is waiting to see who will take the first spot on the same list, breaking the record made by SRK.
