Apoorva Makhija, also known as the Rebel Kid on the internet, came under severe scrutiny after the India’s Got Latent showcase. It all started with abuses hurled at the show by her and vulgarity spouted by Ranveer Allahabadia and Samay Raina.
The public was outraged against these influencers, who they believe misguided the youth and degraded the values of our society. However, many felt that the impact of the scrutiny was manifold on Apoorva, mainly because she is a woman.
Even Apoorva recently talked about the backlash she and her family had to face after the whole incident. She was given rape threats, and her family was chastised.
She shared that her landlord asked her to vacate her flat. They said that because of her, the police came to their flat and stated that this is why they don’t give flats to single women.
The building management made her life difficult while she was already being haunted by the police. Many of her fans are now coming out in her support, even if they don’t entirely agree with the entire incident.
They feel things were blown out of proportion and that the government and authorities should use their energy on better things.
