Suriya’s Kanguva hit theaters today. Directed by Siva, this big-budget film is one of India’s costliest productions, with Suriya playing dual roles as Kanguva and Francis, while Bobby Deol stars as the main villain, Udhiran.
The film had a poor start at the Hindi box office, with only around 8-10% occupancy in morning shows.

Early estimates suggest Kanguva may earn between Rs 2 to 2.5 crore on its opening day which will be better than Indian 2 and Vettaiyan in Hindi versions.
With 6,500 Hindi shows all over, it’s still not sure if Kanguva will pick up enough to make a strong impact in Bollywood on day one as the initial reviews are not encouraging.

In advance bookings, Kanguva managed to sell about 7,500 tickets across major chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis, but sales outside these theaters were also slow.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu market as expected showed better bookings, with pre-sales reaching Rs 6.5 crore as of last night.

Early reviews of Kanguva in Hindi have been mixed to negative and the scenario doesn’t look good as of now. It needs a miraculous turnaround now to become a success in Hindi.
For Suriya, the success of Kanguva is extremely crucial, as his recent films have struggled at the box office, except for his well-received OTT releases Jai Bhim and Soorarai Pottru.
