Rajiv Rai, director of the 1992 hit Vishwatma, raised objections to the teaser of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri for using the opening beats of “Saat Samundar” without permission. If following the promos, this issue directly affects what lands in theatres.
The film stars Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday and comes from Dharma Productions. The teaser dropped in December 2024 and featured the track without approval. For viewers, this suddenly turns excitement around the film into a legal talking point.
Rajiv Rai clarified that Saregama holds limited rights over his music but cannot approve reuse in other films on its own. He stressed that such moves ignore creative ownership. If caring about original work, this claim strikes a familiar nerve.
He asked his legal team to contact the producers and Saregama to resolve the matter. Rajiv said he prefers a clean settlement. If talks fail, he confirmed he will take the legal route.
This is not his first dispute. In 2021, “Tip Tip Barsa Paani” from Mohra was remixed for Sooryavanshi without his go-ahead. The matter later ended in a legal settlement led by Karan Johar.
Rajiv also pointed out that he allows some usage when approached properly. He once gave “Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela” from Gupt free for Aryan Khan’s series. For creators, consent makes all the difference.
The dispute puts fresh focus on music rights in Bollywood, especially with remakes now routine. As a fan, this case decides what version reaches screens. Updates around “Saat Samundar” now lead discussion before the December 25, 2025 release.
