Recently, news emerged that SRK’s upcoming film KING is slated for release on Eid 2026. This would mark Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen after almost three years since his last movie, Dunki, in 2023. He deserves a solo release without any competition.

Soon after this announcement, it was revealed that Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal’s film Love and War, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is also set for release on Eid 2026—the same date SRK was targeting for KING.

Rumors began circulating in Bollywood that Ranbir is targeting SRK, possibly because he cannot become number one without challenging the biggest star, SRK.

Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan’s Om Shanti Om and Ranbir Kapoor’s debut film Saawariya, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, were released on the same day in 2007. Om Shanti Om was a blockbuster, while Saawariya was a washout.

Shah Rukh Khan and Bhansali faced off again in 2015 with Dilwale versus Bajirao Mastani. This time, Bajirao Mastani won at the Indian box office, though Dilwale had a higher worldwide total.

Now, they are set to clash once more with KING versus Love and War. It remains to be seen who will come out on top this time.
