Pooja Hegde is once again returning to the big screen alongside actor Shahid Kapoor in the upcoming action-thriller ‘Deva’. The film is directed by Rosshan Andrrews and is set to hit the theatres on January 31st, 2025.
This film will be Hegde’s attempt at delivering a hit after a string of flops. The actress delivered her last hit with ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ in 2020, after which it has been a downhill road for her.

Her last 5-6 films have been back-to-back flops like Radhe Shyam (2022), Beast (2022), and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023). Hence it is only natural that she will be desperately looking for a hit with ‘Deva’ with Shahid Kapoor.
Deva is said to be a remake of the 2013 Malayalam thriller Mumbai Police, generating significant buzz around it.

However, the risks are high as recently people often prefer the originals over remakes due to their easy availability on various OTT platforms.
Interestingly, luck factor can save the day for Pooja Hegde as many have pointed out that her last big hit was released in January as well. With Deva also being preponed to January, luck finally seems to be siding with her.

But the remake fear is much more haunting, as people have already watched most of the pre-pandemic films on streaming platforms due to the COVID-driven OTT boom.
It will be very interesting to see whether January luck plays in Pooja’s favour, or does ‘Deva’ become one more name in her long list of consecutive flops.
